At Frank, Rimerman, an organizational development specialist was hired. Soon after there were many culture enhancing programs being introduced and I dove in head first to gain experience and make a difference. One project I was able to help out on was Party Planning Committee. This was a bigger deal than most companies because we didn't have a formal group planning these kind of events and they happened so sparingly we wanted to make sure that wasn't the case going forward. The role I dove into was that of invitation designer and I was able to make a big difference because email invitations being designed by others at my firm were using clip art and MS Word. I was happy to contribute and push the limits of what we thought our parties could look like.

The following two emails were designed as part of the execution of our Woolly of the Week project. The first email is sent out each Friday naming the two recipients of the Woolly along with the appreciation statement. The recipient then enjoys the company of their fluffy, furry, friend for a week until they receive a reminder email asking for their appreciation statement of someone else. Then the next wave of appreciation starts the following Friday.
This week's woolly goes to...
Reminding each Woolly recipient every week to think of someone to appreciate and write up their statement.
Occasionally we would get two appreciation statements for the same person. I wanted to tweak the design a little to make it seem more special and this giant Woolly photo definitely caught people's eye.
The Woolly of the Week project was going well in the San Francisco office. So well that the partners of our Palo Alto office were wondering if we could set up a similar program for their office. Our small task force team needed some new recruits so we found two creative thinkers in the Palo Alto office to help us through this process. We filled them in on what the woolly was and the idea behind it. Then we asked them to come up with a new idea and mascot. After working with them for months on the overall idea, fine tuning it and refining it, we were ready to work on the deliverables. This was the email I ended up designing. Very similar concept to the woolly but with a very different feel.
